Saying Goodbye to the Second Nap…

28th Oct 2015

Last week I had to say farewell to my friend the second nap…

Lili didn’t nap for three days, at all, and then transitioned to one per day. I definitely didn’t think it would happen so soon and needed to lament the loss. Given that I am almost 7 months pregnant, I really enjoyed the two naps as they gave me two times during the day to just sit and relax, not like I actually did that, but I had the opportunity to if I didn’t feel like cleaning, cooking, renovating, redecorating, etc.

I must say I quite enjoy the added freedom it allows us in a day. We can go on errands longer, and even may venture into DC for longer zoo or museum trips now. Another added benefit to the one mid-day nap (that lasts between 1-2.5 hours) is an earlier bedtime. Around 530pm it’s already time to go to bed, and she stays in her room until 730am. This allows for more relaxed evening time with Alec and time for my random painting projects. Once baby comes, I hope it stays this way, as I will certainly appreciate the relaxed snuggle time every evening.

So, don’t be afraid of dropping the second nap, and don’t be shocked if it happens sooner than excepted!

Check out my next post on a peek into our daily routine, sans second nap!

    Luciana,
I love your approach to the loss of one nap, making the best of it and seeing the new opportunities it brings you and Lili. As with your style of parenting to date, you allow the situations and baby’s expression and curiosity to evolve without undue expectation or a set way thus allowing her to blossom and become the precocious expressive and happy girl she is.
